ART BIOGRAPHY
At age six, I knew I wanted to be an artist.
Manatee Cove by Jane Medved, copyright 2013, 24x18

I paint from my art studio in Gainesville, Florida. My paintings of nature and human nature are inspired by subtropical scenery and wildlife and people who appreciate the outdoors. I paint on canvas, wood, cork, and unconventional materials. I also create eco-art with palm bark and other foraged gifts from nature.
I seem to have an unlimited drive to create. For that, I thank my family and lessons learned from cultures of the past and cultures around the world.

In the 1970s I served as Consultant in Ceramics for The Metropolitan Museum of Art and owned a clay studio, school and gallery by the Brooklyn Bridge.
The museum sent me all around the city to share my skills with students of vastly different ages and backgrounds. My sculptures were exhibited at New York's Metropolitan Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and Museum of Arts and Design.
I had a solo show at the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana, after serving as their artist in residence.

I practice a daily meditation that supports, enriches and fills me with gratitude. My artwork is an effort to express those good feelings.
